Welcome to The Claw
Moving to a new town is stressful, especially with a baby. However, when that new town includes a hole to the underworld? Well, stressful doesn’t really cover that.
Angie is terrified of her neighbours, the whole town really. Being cooped up all day with a diarrhoea ridden baby is enough to drive a woman crazy.
The only thing worse? Running out of nappies.
Angie braves the town for the sake of her daughter and ends up meeting another (human) mother who invites her to a (not entirely human) mothers group.
Making unlikely friends and likely enemies, Angie discovers the good and the bad in the town of Enumclaw. Will they choose to stay?
A Love Letter To Motherhood
Being a mother, there are just so many things that only another mother can truly understand. Inspired by such times, Kiera Rose wrote Mothers of the Claw, a fun, quick read that celebrates the ups and downs of motherhood, with a touch of fantasy in there too.
Not only that, but the characters are so loveable and relatable that even child-free readers will get a kick out of this book.
It Takes A Village
The unlikely found family that is the Wednesday night mothers group (or the mother’s of the claw😉) is really the heart of the story. Each of the mums are surviving motherhood their own way, but none of them would be able to do it without each other.
Its a beautiful mix of mums supporting each other through their crazy every day lives – with or without the supernatural added to the mix. And if they get into a little trouble along the way… at least the kids are alright.
A Series in The Making
Mothers of The Claw is the first book in the series of the same name. With the second book A Hole Lot of Trouble just published and a planned third book on the way. These book can be found on Kindle Unlimited.
I can’t wait to tag along with the mums on their next wild and ridiculous adventure.
Favourite Quotes
“It doesn’t matter how old you get; it feels good to belong somewhere”
“Honestly, after being a mom, I was pretty sure I could handle just about anything any other job threw at me.”
“Everyone talks about hoe hard giving birth is, but no one talks about all the crap that comes after.”
Final Thoughts
I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting. It was my first 5 star read of the year. It was fast paced, funny and fresh.
It’s also the type of book that has so much potential. It could just follow the mums on more adventures, or it could have spin offs from the point of view of other mums, Or even spin offs from the kids point of view growing up in The Claw with supernatural creatures. I can’t wait to see what Keira Rose does with this series.
If you mix the movies Mom’s Night Out, Bad Moms, and the TV shows Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries and Buffy the Vampire Slayer together you’d get this book series.
